What are my restrictions after surgery?
There are very few restriction following cataract surgery. We will give you detailed instructions immediately following surgery. Most patients are able to bend and lift following modern cataract surgery. Most patients are ready to use their eyesight immediately after the surgery. The eyesight will be foggy and blurry for the first 48-72 hours, though many patients will notice a huge benefit by the following day.
I don’t mind wearing glasses so why should I do anything more than Standard Cataract Surgery?
Our main objective with cataract surgery is to provide you with clear vision whether you need glasses or not. We want to provide you with the most accurate and safest option available.

Can you imagine seeing well without needing glasses or contact lenses most of the time?

The procedure is painless, quick, your eye doesn't move and you don't have to worry about blinking?
The procedure is typically painless. It is quick. Your eye is gently held in position so that you need not worry about it moving. There is a gentle eye lid opener which keeps your eye from blinking.
How do I know if Advanced Technology Cataract Surgery™ is right for me?
Dr. McGarity will do a thorough exam, including advanced pre-operative testing (a PRE), that will help determine whether Advanced Technology Cataract Surgery™ would be recommended.
What portion of my cataract surgery does Medicare or insurance cover?
Medicare and insurances will pay for Basic Cataract Surgery (basic preop testing, standard surgical procedure and standard facility fee and standard 90 day postop), but they do not pay the extensive advanced pre-operative testing (PRE), the upgrade for the lens or the postoperative care for one year associated with Advanced Technology Cataract Surgery™.
Do you offer a payment program?
Yes! As a matter of fact, many of our patients use this program to pay for their procedure. The plan is very flexible; patients may put zero down and have low monthly payments after their procedure.
